Harry McAdams State Park is a hidden gem in the small town of Hobbs, NM. If you’ll be traveling through the area and need a place to camp for a night or a week, you’ll be happy with your decision to stay at this small state park.

My husband and I both grew up in Hobbs and we knew a little bit about this state park. Our parents would take us for a drive out here at Christmas when they had all of the lights and decorations. We’d go here to feed all the ducks on a nice day when we were kids. During college, we would come out here and walk around the golf course. But we never realized what a great camping spot this would turn out to be.

This campground has about 15 campsites for both RVs and tents. Campsites are fully paved and have full hookups (30 amp electric). Some sites have covered picnic tables and fire rings. Nightly rates are around $18/night or $90/week. This is a no-reservation campground and there is a 14-day stay limit.

Campsites are well spaced out, have shade trees, and there is plenty of open space for the kids to play. This is a picture of our campsite where we are staying with a big open area just behind our RV.

There is quite a bit to do at this State Park. Just across the street from the campground is Rockwind Community Links golf course which is surrounded by a nice walking/biking trail. There’s a disc/frisbee golf area located in the green area just behind our campsite. There’s a pond with tons of ducks to feed. And for the kids, there’s football goal posts and a great playground near the area.
